Whether you’re shipping internationally from South Africa or shipping inside of South Africa, here are five plugins all South African businesses should have.

1. South African Post Office International Parcel Service

If your company is based in South Africa and you have a lot of international customers, this plugin is a must for you. It calculates shipping rates for parcels in excess of 1 kg and up to 30 kg to international destinations. It also gives you the ability to calculate shipping per order or per item and also allows you to include handling fees.

2. South African Post Office Domestic Parcel Service

The domestic service is a must-have for South African businesses that have many domestic customers. The plugin gives you shipping rates to anywhere in South Africa based on cart weight. You can also include handling fees, calculate cost per order or per item and specify if shipping insurance should be added to the shipping costs.

3. Speed Services Couriers Plugin

Speed Services Couriers is an independent division of the South African Post Office that provides a domestic overnight express network in Southern Africa.

And with the Speed Services Couriers shipping plugin for WooCommerce you can calculate Speed Services Couriers shipping costs for customers at checkout based on their cart weight either with counter-to-counter or counter-to-door rates. You can add handling fees and insurance costs to the whole order or per item.

4. WooCommerce E-Commerce Bundle Rate Shipping

While not specific to South Africa, this shipping plugin is great as a general tool to have for shipping anywhere, as it allows you to provide special bundled shipping rates when a customer purchases multiple items.

For example, if you sell books, you could charge $5 for the first book and $2 for every book thereafter and plugin makes it easy to set this up and execute it.

The plugin is flexible, so you can define bundled shipping rates based on the shipping destination, the categories of the products being sold, or the products’ shipping class.

You can also add additional layers for each category, adding a degree of complexity that you may find suitable for your store’s situation.

You can add as many layers as you like.

If you sell a lot of bundled products (or products that could easily be bundled), this plugin is a great idea.

5. Multiple Ship-To Plugin

Again, this one is not specific to South Africa but would be good for any ecommerce store anywhere. Many people, especially around the holidays, need to ship to multiple addresses at once.

This plugin allows your customers to ship to multiple places without having to make multiple orders. With one, simple checkout, your customers can not only ship to many different locations, but can also:

  • Send identical carts to multiple locations
  • Send any quantity of products to any number of addresses
  • Save more than one address to your Customer Accounts

It’s all done with an easy drag and drop interface that supports all WooCommerce shipping methods.
